The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, also known as Mount Charleston,
offers opportunities for year-round fun: hiking, camping, picnicking, plus winter snow activities.
When you visit, join an interpretive hike with a naturalist to learn about the plants and animals unique to the Spring Mountains, attend a campfire program to learn how the mountains were formed, or trek through the snow on a guided snowshoe hike.

What's happening on the mountain:

  • GO Mt. Charleston Day is June 8
Kick off summer in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area: Enjoy fun activities and “how-to” demos to make getting outdoors easy and fun for all ages and levels of experience. The event is free, and we encourage you to carpool and bring your friends who are often reluctant to get outdoors! Click here for the poster and share it with your friends!
  • Fire Safety is top priority as the mountain warms up!
Fires are only allowed on in provided BBQ and campfire rings. Picnic groups in Lee Meadows can use a gas grill with and on/off switch or knob. Be safe!
  • 2400+ pounds of litter!
We want to thank all of our amazing volunteers for their help at our 6th Annual Spring Cleaning. They collected over a ton of litter in one morning! View our gallery of photos, and email volunteer@gomtcharleston.com if you have a group that would like to come up and help out.
