Join the Las Vegas Astronomical Society and Sierra Forever for a night of stargazing in the Spring Mountains! View the night sky through the telescopes set up by volunteer members of the Las Vegas Astronomical Society. You’ll see the crescent Moon, the planet Venus, bright star-creation nebulae like the Lagoon Nebula (M8); various star clusters, including the Hercules globular star cluster (M13); several bright galaxies, such as M51 the Whirlpool Galaxy, the M81 / M82 pair of galaxies, and the Leo Triplet of galaxies; and many other wonders of the night sky.
Stargazing is from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Registration is required and tickets cost $5.00 per person. All proceeds from tickets go directly towards funding this event and future education events in the Spring Mountains.
S’mores and hot chocolate will be provided.
PLEASE bring red lights instead of white, as this preserves the night vision you’ll need for stargazing! You can also cover white lights with two layers cut out from a brown paper bag.
It may be August, but be sure to bring a jacket and warm layers. Temperatures in the Spring Mountains can be 20-30 degrees cooler than in Las Vegas. Bring chairs and blankets if desired. Flashlights with red light options are recommended to keep light pollution to a minimum.

8:00 PM – Sunset/Event begins
9:00 PM – S’mores and hot chocolate + Green laser tour of night sky
10:00 PM – Event ends
$5.00 per person. All proceeds from this event directly fund future education events in the Spring Mountains.
