#AnimaloftheWeek: Coyote

Coyotes are adaptable omnivores that typically feast on berries and small mammals. In the Spring Mountains look for evidence of manzanita berries in coyote scat along the trails. Coyotes are relatively small, typically gray-brown in color with bushy black-tipped tails. These wild canines are known to make a variety of unique calls, which they use to communicate with each other and track family members.

Coyotes tall pointed ears help them to pick up these various sounds. Try hearing like a coyote with this activity: plt.org/wp-content/uploads/pdf/PLT_Act4_Sounds_Around.pdf
