About This Event

As the temperatures drop, animals in the Spring Mountains are getting ready for winter. Join an educator at the Old Mill picnic area to learn how the animals of the Spring Mountains prepare for winter and how you can be prepared for winter as well. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable hiking clothes and dress in layers. Temperatures in the Spring Mountains can be 20-30 degrees cooler than in Las Vegas.

Programs will take place at:

10:00 am – 10:30 am Winter Ecology Tabletop Program

10:30 am – 11:00 am Junior Snow Ranger Program

11:00 am – 11:30 am Winter Ecology Tabletop Program

11:30 am – 12:00 pm Junior Snow Ranger Program

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Winter Ecology Tabletop Program

12:30 pm – 1:00 pm Junior Ranger Program

*Youth participants will get a chance to earn their Junior Ranger badge.
*No registration is required for this program.

About This Location

The Old Mill Picnic area is located in Lee Canyon (Hwy 156). See our visitor-use map for more information.

Entrance fees for the picnic area are $30 per vehicle – for more information please see Lee Canyon website: https://www.leecanyonlv.com/snowplay. Parking is limited. First come, first serve.

*Program may be shortened or canceled because of heavy rain, heavy snow, or lightning for staff and public safety. The Interpretive Naturalist will make that determination before the start of the program.
