9:00 am-12:00 pm
Organizer:Get Outdoors Nevada
Come #OptOutside with us on Friday, November 26th from 9am-12pm, where we will be doing a special cleanup at Lovell Canyon in partnership with REI, Get Outdoors Nevada, and the US Forest Service. Registered volunteers will be emailed a meeting spot map.
Lovell Canyon is located in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, southwest of Las Vegas. This area is polluted with lead bullets from years of illegal shooting that have contaminated the soil. The canyon is also covered in an invasive plant species called “Russian Thistle,” which becomes extremely flammable when it dries up. These plants put our community at greater risk of forest fires and worsened air quality. Volunteers are needed to help us protect the land and air by removing litter and invasive plants in the area!
