SUMMARY:#OptOutside Day Cleanup at Lovell Canyon
DESCRIPTION:Come #OptOutside with us on Friday\, November 26th from 9am-12p
m\, where we will be doing a special cleanup at Lovell Canyon in partnersh
ip with REI\, Get Outdoors Nevada\, and the US Forest Service. Registered
volunteers will be emailed a meeting spot map.\n\nLovell Canyon is located
in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area\, southwest of Las Vegas
. This area is polluted with lead bullets from years of illegal shooting t
hat have contaminated the soil. The canyon is also covered in an invasive
plant species called “Russian Thistle\,” which becomes extremely flamm
able when it dries up. These plants put our community at greater risk of f
orest fires and worsened air quality. Volunteers are needed to help us pro
tect the land and air by removing litter and invasive plants in the area!\
