Event Details
Utah Tech University (formerly Dixie State University) is excited to partner with Go Mt. Charleston! For this workshop series, we have booked a group campsite and space to hold workshops to help plan day trips all in one weekend, June 18 & 19. You can come for all of the workshops or just a few.
10am – noon: Introduction to planning day trips
We will cover the basic information you should research before a trip, share our simple trip planning form with you (trust us, we wish we had it when we first started planning trips!), and practice planning a trip. This workshop will be in the Education Building at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway.
1:30pm – 3pm: 10+ Essentials
We will cover the officially recognized list of ten essential pieces of gear that you should have on you for every outdoor adventure as well as one more that we like to encourage folks to add. You will build a 10+ essentials kit that you can take home with you worth over $50. This workshop will be in the Education Building at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway.
7pm – 8:30: Trip Best Practices
We will cover all of the things to consider to make sure you are recreating responsibly. Come learn about ways to take your family and friends on trips and know that you are prepared for unexpected situations. This workshop will be at the Smith Group site at the Mahogany Grove Group Campground.
