Utah Tech University (formerly Dixie State University) is excited to partner with Go Mt. Charleston! For this workshop series, we have booked a group campsite and space to hold workshops to help plan overnight trips all in one weekend, July 2 & 3. You can come for all of the workshops or just a few (free, registration link below).

9:30am: Planning Overnight Trips
First up, we will cover the basics of planning an overnight trip. Come learn about ways to take your family and friends on trips and know that you are prepared for unexpected situations. This workshop will be in the Education Building at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway.

12:30pm: 10+ Essentials
We will cover the officially recognized list of ten essential pieces of gear that you should have on you for every outdoor adventure as well as one more that we like to encourage folks to add. You will build a 10+ essentials kit that you can take home with you worth over $50. This workshop will be in the Education Building at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway.

4:30pm: Core Camping Skills
We will cover basic skills including information about tents, camping stoves, and campfires. Come learn about gear before you go on your first camping trip and try out our gear so you get experience using it before you invest in your own or go on a trip without practicing. This workshop will be at the Smith Group site at the Mahogany Grove Group Campground.

7pm: Trip Best Practices
We will cover all of the things to consider to make sure you are recreating responsibly. Come learn about ways to take your family and friends on trips and know that you are prepared for unexpected situations. This workshop will be at the Smith Group site at the Mahogany Grove Group Campground.
