Scout Program: International Observe the Moon Night

Event Details

This Girl Scout badge program will celebrate International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN, or “eye-nom”) and will include a twilight hike that contains stories and facts about the moon, observing the moon, and a delicious “moon phases” activity with Oreos. This program will cover these badge activities: observe the moon and note the observations, why we only see one side of the moon, cookie moon phases, and the option of taking fun photos of the moon. After the hands-on and hike portion, Girl Scouts will join us for the Las Vegas Astronimical Society’s public moon viewing event.
* Troop leaders are expected to have a proper girl-leader ratio for troop attendees. The older girls need to do some pre-work listed in the badge requirements, which leaders will confirm. Please no tagalongs due to group size restrictions.

Badge description and requirements

This program is $7 per Girl Scout and by registration only, limited to 40 Girl Scouts total, and confirmed once payment is received. Please email programs@gomtcharleston.com with Girl Scout count and leader/chaperone count (no fee for adults). Directions and details will be sent with payment confirmation to the email listed at registration.
