About the Event

Sixty-six years ago, a plane crashed on Mount Charleston and wasn’t talked about until years later. Today we honor the lives lost in the crash on Mount Charleston and the other lives lost during the Cold War. Join an educator to learn about this historic event.
This program is approximately one and a half hours. Please check the weather and come prepared with sturdy, close-toed shoes, water, and sun protection. Any questions about this program can be directed to programs@gomtcharleston.com.

About the Location

The program will meet at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway (the visitor center) and move to the Pack Rat trail. The Park Rat trail is a moderate 0.4-mile loop hike. Participants are encouraged to bring hiking poles, a backpack, 1 liter of water, snacks, and sunscreen. Closed-toed shoes and comfortable hiking clothes are recommended.
The Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway is located at 2525 Kyle Canyon Rd. For more information, see our visitor use map

Please arrive at the Spring Mountain Visitor Gateway 10-15 minutes before the hike.
