Join us as we welcome Go Mt. Charleston’s Jennifer Humphreys (Interpretive Naturalist) and Dion Nicolas (Program Coordinator) for a presentation about Mt. Charleston’s recreational areas, volunteer opportunities and how you can be better stewards when in the Spring Mountains this winter season. Snow is on the way and so are thousands of recreationists. We all need to do our part in conserving natural resources on Mt. Charleston. Go Mt. Charleston will explain how and why.

Mt Charleston is located in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area and, at 35 miles away from the Las Vegas valley, is a popular year round destination for recreationists in Southern Nevada. During summer months throngs of people head to the mountain to escape the sweltering heat of the Mojave Desert since temperatures are about 25-30° cooler! In the winter, thousands seek to spend the day enjoying snow recreation such as skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding. Go Mt. Charleston, through the Southern Nevada Conservancy, serves the Spring Mountains and their many programs and services have helped visitors gain deeper understanding and appreciation of the area’s cultural and natural resources.

We will see you there!

Every first Thursday of the month, Friends of Nevada Wilderness hosts a local environmental expert at REI Boca Park in their Community Room. Doors open at 6:45 giving you enough time to socialize and grab a snack before the presentation begins at 7 pm.
