#PlantoftheWeek: Charleston Violet (Viola charlestonensis)

Found only in the Spring Mountains and southern Utah, this forb typically blooms from May to June. Growing only a few centimeters tall, the Charleston violet is a true belly flower, meaning you may have to get down on the ground to see and enjoy it! The only yellow violet in the area, look for this vibrant plant in rocky soils within the pinyon-juniper and mixed conifer woodlands of the Spring Mountains.
