Weather patterns in the Spring Mountains can be drastically different than what the Las Vegas Valley experiences. Our Weather page offers multiple tools, tips and webcams to monitor conditions and forecasts. The National Weather Service has additional information and webcams. Remember that high winds and dry conditions can create devastating fire conditions!
Crews will be removing and hauling trees along Hwy 157/Kyle Canyon Rd, 7am - 5pm M-F, through October. Be prepared for possible brief traffic delays.
STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT IN THE SPRING MOUNTAINS
Nevada is facing an elevated risk of a severe and potentially catastrophic wildfire season due to drought conditions, dense, dry vegetation and other factors. Given the critical threat of wildfires statewide, and the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is now under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- No igniting, building, maintaining, or using ANY wood or charcoal/briquette fire, including developed campfires and grills. Propane, Butane, or Liquid jelly stoves and grills are ok, as well as propane fire pits
- No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle.
- No welding, or operating an acetylene torch with open flames, except by permit.
- No use of, or causing to be used, any explosive, except by permit.
- No discharge, use, or allowing the use of fireworks, tracer rounds, explosive targets, or any other incendiary device.
FIRE RESTRICTIONS AND CLOSURES ARE IN EFFECT:

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable as a class B misdemeanor, by a fine of not more than $5000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for an organization and/or imprisonment of not more than 6 months.

*All Federal Public Lands Pass (Access Pass, Military Pass, Senior Pass, Annual Parks Pass, and Every Kid in a Park Pass) holders are permitted free usage at single sites at all day use picnic areas except for SMVG, Foxtail, and Cathedral Group Picnic Areas. Pass must be present and its information must be filled out on a fee envelope and deposited in the fee tube at the Self-Service pay station.
Hilltop Campground (Closed for renovations)
*Access and Senior Federal Public Lands Pass holders are permitted 50% off at single sites. Pass must be present and its information must be filled out on a fee envelope and deposited in the fee tube at the Self-Service pay station.

We are following the agency and CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19, closely monitoring the situation and responding to current conditions. Please continue to monitor this page for status updates.
Parking on the mountain is limited and will be monitored. There are approximately 60 legal parking spaces open in Kyle Canyon and 40 in Lee Canyon. Visitors are encouraged to utilize the numerous undeveloped sites on lower SR 156, lower SR 157, and SR 158 if recreating on the mountain.
