Have you been looking to volunteer and haven’t been able to do so? We are getting back into our volunteer programs and we’re ready to have you join us in serving the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area and to help maintain the natural beauty of your public lands. Since COVID made its impact in March of 2020, our programs have been shuttered and we have been unable to hold events or maintain our standing volunteer programs. As we have adapted to regulations and made the proper precautions, we have reactivated our volunteer programs and are now holding events. We have successfully held a few volunteer events this year, 2021, including our popular events such as Spring Cleaning, Green the Mountain and tree plantings.

We are looking to build back our volunteer database and if you reached out in the past you may have seen an email from our Volunteer Coordinator, Ray. If you’re interested in volunteering, we have a multitude of Cold and Warm seasonal opportunities for anyone who wishes to join our volunteer teams that meet the skills and interests you wish to learn more about and partake in, such as:

Winter Season:

Snow Host
Help visitors have a fun snow play experience while reducing impacts to the forest environment by providing information about where to play, safe snowplay practices, and facilitating participation in fun educational activities. Snow Hosts are provided training, a radio, first aid kits, and additional support to help visitors navigate the crowded snowplay areas during the very busy snowy season.

Education Volunteers
GO Mt Charleston programs often need a little help from volunteers, from staffing at an interpretive table, helping lead activities at the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway or at tabling events, acting as a sweep on our guided hikes, and many other opportunities throughout the warm and cold seasons.

Litter and Sled Trash Removal
Whether you are an individual that wants to help keep the Spring Mountains healthy or a family, group, or business looking for a community service project, we would love the help!

Warm Season:

Trail Host
Enjoy hiking in a beautiful landscape while helping others learn about and protect the forest. Trail Hosts develop a greater understanding of the mountain environment while providing essential trail information that helps keep trails safe for the public.

Litter and Invasive Species Removal
Whether you are an individual that wants to help keep the Spring Mountains healthy or a family, group, or business looking for a community service project, we would love the help!

Major Volunteer Events
Each year, GO Mt Charleston hosts large-scale cleanups, invasive species removals, seed gathering, plantings, and more. As mentioned above, we have been rolling out these events this past year and hope to expand do more, so keep an eye out on our Events calendar on GoMtCharleston.com
